A month to remember !!
On 27th Dec'18 night, laid on my bed waiting for sleep to get consumed in my head, eyes to follow, I was thinking about her, or better call it, her birthday which was about to happen exactly 30 days later when the people would be busy posting their love for the country. Indeed she was going to be 26 on this coming 26th.
"Let's surprise her being at her place on her birthday, so book the tickets" - I ordered to myself.
Signed in to IRCTC and booked the ticket - Waiting list WL #48 I got. "Aah its been a month, surely it will get confirmed." Minutes later I slept as if a war has been won.
Few days passed and I checked the current status - the number reduced slightly. Now with every passing day, my checking frequency increased exponentially. The waiting list number was started appearing in a single digit and the chart preparation was still a couple of hours away . Happy me !!
Bags already packed, half leave taken and reached the railway station excitingly. Train was on time so without wasting a minute, my eyes started looking after my seat number which I found in the very first minute. Bags down, book, earphones & charger taken out to complete this very loooong 13 hrs journey, although deep inside me, I knew that these physical items won't be required since my head would be busy planning surprises for her.
Address was already arranged well before as a part of the plan and train was also reached on time, so at sharp 6.37 morning, I rang her doorbell. " Oh shit, I just couldn't believe I was there - ringing her doorbell". Since I have never done this sort of thing ever before so I was excited and nervous at that very same moment. Door didn't open hence bell pressed again for a bit longer time. Finally the door opened and she appeared, confused and sleepy both, for obvious reasons. Seconds later - I started " Happy birthday to you !!" and suddenly she was in all her conscious. She was amazed for a moment and fired all her questions against me before allowing me to enter her house.
All her queries answered like how did I get her address, why didn't I tell her before about all of this, blah blah. Day passed in lunch, movie, dinner and late night chit chats.
Next day I had a train so she dropped me to the railway station. I left that place with unforgettable memories and some visible tears in both pair of eyes.
I was in my office thinking about all of this when suddenly my colleague asked me - "Bro whats the status of your ticket ?" I again signed in to IRCTC and checked the status and it was as follows -
CHART PREPARED WL #6.
CHART PREPARED WL #6.
I was numb at that very moment and did not want to believe the reality that I am not going to surprise her on her birthday. That day passed and at 12.00 AM - I texted her silently - Happy birthday !!
To the birthday girl,
Dear Rebecca
Initially I wanted to do it for your happiness but believe me - during this one month duration, my happiness got connected to it and I really wanted to do it for myself. All your questions will be left unanswered for a while like how did I get your address, why didn't I tell you before, blah blah. You will get them soon.
Did you remember the last time we met and I told you that somehow I got a feeling that it was the last time we were meeting with each other? I am sorry but now I start believing that.
I have sent you my favourite bug, do keep it alive !!
With all love
